Imagenet, formed in 1996 and with offices in London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Sydney, is a web-based repository and distribution ‘hub’ for digital assets, including images, audio, video, and text files. The company’s core service is the storage and distribution to the world’s media of high-quality images and publicity materials for the film, television and music industries. Distribution in its digitised format through Imagenet simplifies the process and increases the quality and reliability of image delivery, thereby substantially reducing costs. Imagenet’s global service contracts with some of the largest studios in the world, including Disney and Universal Pictures, make it a unique player in its market. Palamon assisted in the strategic development of the business in its early development stages, and provided funding for the enhancement of its technology platform and the expansion of its international user base. Imagenet was sold to Getty Images Inc. in July 2004.
